Gary Patterson

With over 30 years of business experience, Gary is a seasoned sales leader and business owner helping to grow organizations by developing high-performance sales teams, leaders, and salesĀ  strategies. He has a solid business acumen, starting as a Management Cadet with Fletcher Challenge in the 1980s and rising to become the youngest National Sales & Product Manager with Fletcher Steel at 24.

He then moved to the UK to work with British Steel as an International Steel Trader, before transitioning his sales skills to the internet sector in 1996, where he became the Sales Director and part-owner of a business in Ireland. Upon returning to New Zealand in 2001, he continued to work in the SME technology sector, with experience in AV/IT hardware, services, and solutions, SaaS software, 3D CAD, Tier 1 & 2 ERP. He has a track record of leading teams of 5-25 and has achieved notable career milestones such as positioning and selling a business in Ireland to Ogilvy & Mather in a multi-million Euro deal and signing a $50m trade deal with a Russian steel mill.

Gary is focused on helping SMEs to become effective in delivering consistent sales results. He believes that for businesses to be successful in an unpredictable economic climate, there are three key elements: smart people, smart processes, and smart technology. He believes that the business that values its people the most will always come out on top. He has a passion for helping people to transform and grow beyond their comfort zone and as a past sales manager, he always felt one of his core responsibilities was to keep people out of their comfort zone, as he believes that nothing great ever happens when one remains comfortable.
